Just a few weeks ago, North Carolina State Senators began another effort to pass medical marijuana legalization. The marijuana industry is pushing hard to pass SB3, a bill that would legalize medical pot in the Tar Heel State.

Legalizing non-FDA-approved high-potency marijuana products goes against the widespread consensus across the scientific community that marijuana is not medicine. In fact, there is nothing "medical" about medical marijuana. SB3 skirts the FDA approval process and permits medical marijuana to be sold in commercial dispensaries, not licensed pharmacies.

Medical marijuana legalization will only normalize and commercialize marijuana under the guise of being guided by science. Yet, as we have seen in other states, medical marijuana legalization bills are often heavily influenced by the industry, not by science. SB3 does not do enough to protect kids, public health, or public safety. Urge your legislators to OPPOSE this piece of legislation!
