Support FY27 Appropriations & Sjögren’s Disease Awareness

Tell Congress to pass Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 funding that increases funding for the National Institutes of Health (NIH). These increases would support funding across the agency where Sjögren’s disease research occurs, including at the Office of Autoimmune Disease Research (OADR).

Overview

The House and Senate are considering FY2027 appropriations with a deadline of September 30 to fund the government. Increasing funding for NIH is essential for advancing Sjögren’s disease research, which is funded by institutes like the National Institute for Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR), the National Eye Institute (NEI), and the National Institute for Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS), among others.

Without robust NIH funding, opportunities will be lost to invest in new research, support emerging investigators, and advance better treatments for people living with Sjögren’s disease. While progress has been made in recent years, much more work is needed to improve diagnosis, treatment, and long-term outcomes, which is why continued investment is essential. It is also critical that research programs can continue to pursue grants and support scientific progress without unnecessary delays or disruptions.

Your voice is essential to ensure these issues remain in front of Congress heading into the September 30 funding deadline.

Take Action!

Please contact your lawmakers and urge them to support robust funding for NIH and Sjögren’s disease research in FY2027 appropriations. Investing in research is critical to unlocking new breakthroughs and improving outcomes for patients. Specifically, ask your lawmakers to:

  • Support at least $51.3B for NIH funding in FY2027.
  • Expand research opportunities focused on Sjögren’s disease.
  • Support the Office of Autoimmune Disease Research (OADR).
