SB0007/HB0010 by Sen. Mark Pody (R - Lebanon) and Rep. Jay Reedy (R - Erin), which significantly loosens vaccination requirements, is up in House Health Sub-committee and Senate Health and Welfare Committee this coming week.
TMA has concerns and will be opposing the bill along side of other physician organizations. Medicine is unified in its position supporting school entry immunization requirements. This bill would undermine confidence in vaccinations at a time when we are striving to increase vaccine confidence in our communities. This bill is too broad and could create unnecessary barriers to public health measures during future pandemics.
Vaccines are safe. Vaccines are effective. Vaccines save lives.
