Rank Choice Voting allows a candidate to FAIL UP by discarding votes. Under this gimmick, when a  candidate  only wins by a plurality,  votes are tossed out for the lesser polled candidate(s) , until a candidate receives more than half of the remaining counted votes.  

Why Rank Choice Voting undermines the Democratic Process :

• Instead of voting for the candidate of one's choice, having voters rank candidates is complicated and confusing for voters.
• As many as 1/3 of voters do not rank their choices and their vote could be thrown out in subsequent rounds as votes are reassigned. In  effect, disenfranchising voters.
• Eliminates a run off that would provide a clear choice for voters, resulting in muddled outcomes.
• Disregards One Man One Vote , the cornerstone of our Democratic Republic.
• Often, the declared winner in a rank-choice voting contest is not the choice of the majority of voters. Without a genuine mandate, there is no consent of the governed.
• Prone to error, difficult to audit or hand count. An arduous, time-consuming process that further erodes faith in our government.

Senator Bryan Hughes has filed SB921 and  Representative  Brisco Cain's companion bill HB3611, would ban rank choice voting in Texas , and are bills that garner our full support . 

Senator Sarah Eckhadt's bill SB637 and Representative Vikki Goodwin's HB1792 propose a preferential voting system to reassign votes, " rank choice voting", in special elections which may not determine a true majority, would disenfranchise voters, and should not be supported.
