Your help is urgently needed! Last week, the White House sent a package of cuts to already appropriated aid, called rescissions, to Congress for approval. This new rescissions package has passed the House and is expected to eliminate even more vital international assistance programs that families and children depend on. Funding for these programs was already approved by both Democrats and Republicans in March. Let your Senator know that you are deeply concerned about the proposed rescissions package eliminating lifesaving assistance programs.
Millions of vulnerable people worldwide, including women and children, have been impacted by the disruption of international humanitarian and development assistance by the administration. It cuts programming focused on supporting pregnant mothers and their children, providing emergency food, creating durable solutions for refugees, preventing infectious diseases and ensuring children, families, and communities can eventually move out of poverty.
Congress is also assessing support for lifesaving aid in the fiscal year 2026 federal budget. Recognizing its essential international stabilizing value, Congress has traditionally supported robust international humanitarian and development funding as part of a global strategy to make America safer, stronger, and more prosperous.
Please lift your voice on behalf of our most vulnerable sisters and brothers and urge the Senate to:
- Oppose the rescission of funds for lifesaving humanitarian and development assistance.
- Maintain current funding levels for poverty-reducing international assistance in fiscal year 2026 appropriations.
Thank you for taking action today.
