Thank you for taking action to champion the extension of pandemic-related child nutrition waivers. With your help we have been able to raise the alarm on the ways that the expiration of these waivers would harm child nutrition programs and the millions of kids they serve. In June, Congress passed the Keep Kids Fed Act, which provides some important flexibilities and financial support for meal programs into 2023. However, to reach a bipartisan compromise, this bill does not allow school meal programs to keep feeding all kids – a major blow to child nutrition providers’ budgets and to kids’ ability to access nourishing meals without stigma.
NFSN and other child nutrition advocates will continue to push for additional legislative opportunities to give school and ECE meals the resources they need to thrive and serve all kids. Stay tuned for more chances to share your stories directly with your legislators!
