URGENT: Urge NJ Assembly Members to Support Antisemitism Legislation NOW
ACT NOW!! URGE NJ ASSEMBLY LEADERS TO SUPPORT THE PASSAGE OF ANTISEMITISM LEGISLATION!

It is important that NJ State Assembly leaders see the Jewish community’s strong and unwavering support of NJ Assembly Bill A3558! Make your voices heard TODAY by calling on NJ Assembly leaders to introduce Assembly Bill A3558 and have them move this critical legislation forward to protect New Jersey Jews!

NJ Assembly Bill A3558 (sponsored by Assemblyman Gary Schaer) will accomplish the following:

  • Create a clear definition of antisemitism in New Jersey based on the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition.
  • Call on the State of New Jersey to use this definition of antisemitism to determine whether an alleged act was motivated by antisemitism.
  • Call on the Office of the Attorney General to establish a public-funded awareness campaign that promotes bias crime reporting in New Jersey.

The public awareness campaign shall include, but not limited to:
    1. Providing community outreach
    2. Training on how to identify and report bias crimes
    3. Providing and disseminating information to the public about the resources available through the New Jersey Bias Crimes Reporting Unit, including the bias crime reporting hotline.

Additionally, we are calling on the New Jersey Assembly Leaders to Introduce an Assembly Bill that will require definitions of antisemitism (IHRA) and Islamophobia (UN) be included in the State's diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging policies, and in any such policy for recipients of State's funds. The inclusion of these definitions in State DEI policies will help to foster more inclusive environments, in which all communities, regardless of ethnicity and faith can be represented fairly in DEI curriculums.

This legislation has already been introduced in the State Senate as a counterpart to the IHRA legislation in the Senate, which were both voted out of committee in June. We need the Assembly to introduce an equivalent version of S2937, so both bills can be moved forward out of the Assembly towards being passed into law.

With the rampant rise in antisemitism, we have encountered here in New Jersey, it has never been more important to pressure our legislators to push these fills forward to ensure our institutions are given the tools to stem both criminal conduct and discriminatory acts motivated by antisemitism, and create a more inclusive environment for all people.

PLEASE TAKE ACTION TODAY to stand against antisemitism and urge Assembly Leaders to Vote Yes on this critical legislation and have an S2937 equivalent in the Assembly be Introduced! #EndAntisemitismNJ #SupportA3558 #StandAgainstHate
