In the 2025 legislative session, the Minnesota Historical Society is requesting Capital Budget funds to care for our state's most culturally significant buildings, museums, and trails. MNHS’s impactful work preserving our state’s historic structures ensures that the public has access to important stories, lessons, and perspectives. In the past, these funds have been used for projects such as stabilizing Mill City Museum’s courtyard ruin walls and preserving buildings at Mille Lacs Indian Museum and Historic Forestville.
Keeping MNHS’s 150+ structures around the state in the best possible condition is essential to providing engaging experiences to visitors from across the state, country, and world. Nearly half of those structures are over 100 years old, and are in need of preservation so they can continue to share our state’s rich history.
You can support this important aspect of Minnesota History! Reach out to your legislators to encourage their support of the Capital Budget or “bonding” request for the Minnesota Historical Society for preserving historic structures across the state.
