America’s population is getting older and its labor force participation rate is getting smaller. These factors are contributing to inflation, supply chain disruptions, and housing shortages. Immigration reform remains the solution to these ongoing economic issues.
Notwithstanding the circuit court’s decision, DACA was never intended to be a permanent solution. That is why NAHREP is once again calling on Congress to end the uncertainty and act with urgency to provide a path to citizenship for these Dreamers, for the honor of our nation and the economic wellbeing of our communities.
Key arguments for our Congressional leaders:
- The DACA program has been critical to protecting undocumented youth who are vibrant members of our workforce and who have contributed billions of dollars to our economy.
- DACA recipients are contributors to our economy: 77% of DACA recipients are in the labor force and contribute an estimated $11.7 billion annually.
- DACA recipient households have $25.5 million in spending power, own 68,000 homes, and contribute $760 million in mortgage payments.
Offering a pathway to citizenship for DACA recipients would protect them from deportation, ensure their financial security, and strengthen our national economy. Join us in urging your Senator to take action on DACA now.
