Thanks for your work, GRSC!
  • Advancing PAEA’s Advocacy Agenda
    • PAEA’s Government Relations team, in partnership with the association’s nursing and physician colleagues, met with officials at the headquarters of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in February to advocate for a resolution to the current E/M student documentation disparity. PAEA is currently partnering with programs throughout the United States to submit documents to CMS regarding the burden associated with restricting preceptor verification of student notes to medical students.
    • PAEA’s Government Relations Steering Committee held its annual meeting in Washington, DC in February. During the course of this meeting, the committee drafted a new advocacy agenda for the association for 2019-2020, initiated a Grassroots Champion Development Initiative, and met with congressional offices in advance of the reintroduction of PAEA-supported legislation in the 116th Congress.
  • Health Care News in Washington
    • In early February, the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee held its second hearing of the 116th Congress on the role of primary care in reducing costs and improving outcomes.
    • The House Energy and Commerce Health subcommittee held a legislative hearing on February 13 to consider proposals to strengthen the Affordable Care Act and offer additional protections to patients with pre-existing conditions.
  • Opportunities for Action
    • To ensure that PA education issues are at the forefront of the policy agenda in the 116th Congress, it is critical that lawmakers hear from their constituents. If you have not already done so, please urge your representatives to prioritize PA education issues this Congress!
