Action Center

Thank your representatives for taking action on cancer care
Please thank your Congressional representatives for taking action on behalf of patients to delay the Medicare Radiation Oncology Alternative Payment Model (RO Model) to January 1, 2022. This builds upon the delay that was announced by CMS earlier this year until July 2021 and gives the community more time to work with CMS to improve the RO Model for mandated participants and patients.

Despite the delay, there is still work to be done. Medicare plans to move 30 percent of radiation oncology episodes to a new bundled payment system.  The Final RO Model could deprive cancer patients of appropriate care because the bundled payment rates are not predicted to fairly compensate providers, making it challenging for providers to offer advanced RO services or upgrade to new technologies.
Medicare should reduce the size of the payment cuts included in the proposal to no more than 3%, as they are currently larger than any other similar payment models.

Please thank your legislators for supporting the delay, and ask them to work with the Biden Administration to address the large payment cuts in the model.
