Statewide Responsible Contractor Bill Stalled in Senate
Recently there was much excitement in the Pennsylvania construction community when a statewide responsible contractor bill passed the House last October. House Bill 1449 mirrors many of the local responsible contractor ordinances that have been enacted by various municipalities and school districts around the Commonwealth.  However, not everyone supports it with the bill passing the House by a vote of 134-69 with all Democrats supporting it and many Republicans opposing.

Unfortunately, the bill is also seemingly stalled after being assigned to the Senate State Government Committee, chaired by Senator Cris Dush (R-Jefferson).  Efforts are underway in the Senate to pry the bill free of the State Government committee by appealing to the Senate Republican Leadership.

You are encouraged to lend your voice to the effort.  Please contact your local Senator and Senate Leadership to encourage them to help get the bill moving again by utilizing this page by filling in your home or business information on the right-hand side to contact your local legislators in support of HB1449.
