Sens. Joe Piccozzi (R-Phila.) and Marty Flynn (D-Lackawanna) have introduced legislation to create a pathway for the installation of electrified perimeter security systems. These outdoor systems are installed inside existing barrier fences, or walls, and instantly alert alarm monitoring services when a breach occurs, enabling rapid communication with business owners and swift action to address potential threats.
The sponsors say their legislation (SB1269.) will “set clear parameters for the installation and use of these systems exclusively in non-residential settings. By removing regulatory ambiguity, we will give Pennsylvania businesses the confidence to adopt these modern security measures without unnecessary delays or obstacles.”
Twenty-nine other states – including Maryland, North Carolina, and Virginia – have already adopted similar laws.
