Predictable Fees Legislation Introduced

Dear Valued PLTA Member:

We number in the tens of thousands nationwide and employ almost 7,000 Pennsylvanians. Our industry provides a critical service in helping residence of the commonwealth achieve their dream of homeownership.  Let’s make our voices heard.

With that in mind, the Pennsylvania Land Title Association, in cooperation with Wanner Associates, is providing a mechanism for you to communicate your opinion on legislation impacting our industry. We need to ensure our State Senators, Representatives and/or Governor know how certain legislation will impact our industry.

PLTA has an active legislative agenda. First up is the association’s support of predictable recording fees law so consumers can better understand closing costs.  Senate Bill 898, introduced by Senator Tomlinson and House Bill 1989 introduced by Representative Todd Polinchock will make predictable the cost of recording documents charged by Recorders of Deeds located in counties of the Second A, Third, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh and Eighth classes. This legislation would be similar to laws passed in 19 other states and recognizes the need to reduce uncertainty and delay in the recording process.

How to get involved? Take part by contacting your legislators via email and Twitter today about the role you play along the path to homeownership and ask for their help in voting for Rep. Polinchok and Sen. Tomlinson's predictable fee legislation!  We have made it easy. You can use the box to the right to either email or tweet to your elected officials. The site is defaulted to “Write”, which will produce an email for you to send.  If you would prefer to tweet, please click “Tweet” at the top right prior to entering your information.

Thank you,
