NAWG is urging lawmakers to support important wheat grower priorities in the bill, including provisions that uphold FIFRA authority, preserve EPA’s role as the national authority on pesticide labeling and registration, and maintain the bill’s pesticide labeling uniformity language in Sections 10205, 10206, and 10207.
NAWG also supports the bill’s transfer of Food for Peace to USDA, which would place this vital international food aid program under the agency best equipped to manage commodity purchasing, food assistance logistics, and market development. In addition, NAWG supports Costa #159, which would provide $7 million and direct hire authority for USDA to administer Food for Peace.
At the same time, NAWG is urging opposition to harmful amendments that would weaken these priorities, including proposals that would strike the pesticide uniformity provisions or undo the transfer of Food for Peace to USDA.
Wheat farmers need a strong Farm Bill that provides certainty in a difficult farm economy and protects the tools and policies necessary to keep producing a safe, abundant, and affordable food supply.
Take action now and urge your Representative to support the Farm Bill, protect wheat grower priorities, and oppose harmful amendments.
