SB 105: Support Lowering Barriers to Work
SB 105 would eliminate various occupational and professional licensing fees in Connecticut. We support this bill because it reduces unnecessary costs that make it harder for people to work in their chosen professions. Many workers must pay application, renewal, and certification fees each year just to keep doing their jobs. These costs can add up to hundreds of dollars annually and create real barriers for lower and middle income residents, small business owners, and jobseekers.

Connecticut already faces workforce shortages in fields like skilled trades and healthcare. Removing licensing fees would lower entry costs and encourage more people to enter and remain in these professions.

Importantly, eliminating these fees reduces expenses for workers without creating new government programs or long term spending commitments. SB 105 is a practical step toward making Connecticut more affordable, supporting job growth, and reducing unnecessary regulatory burdens.
