Let Parents Speak: Reverse the Education Committee Time Limit
The Education Committee has placed strict time limits on public testimony for one of the most controversial bills this session, a proposal that would increase regulation of homeschooling families. We oppose these limits because parents deserve the opportunity to speak on policies that directly affect their children.

Homeschooling decisions are deeply personal. Parents understand their children’s needs, learning styles, and circumstances better than anyone. When lawmakers consider major changes to how families educate their children, those families should have a full and fair chance to be heard.

If a proposal is significant enough to reshape homeschooling policy, the public process should reflect that importance. Limiting testimony reduces transparency and weakens trust in the legislative process. Open debate leads to better policy and ensures lawmakers hear directly from the families most impacted.
