Take Action Alert: Stop One Party Control of State Regulations
Connecticut’s Regulation Review Committee has served as a critical bipartisan check on unelected state agencies for more than 50 years. HB 5554 would dismantle that balance.

This bill changes the structure of the Regulation Review Committee, shifting it from an evenly divided, bipartisan body to one controlled by the majority party. That means regulations affecting energy, labor, healthcare, and more could move forward without bipartisan agreement.

The current system was intentionally designed to prevent unelected agencies from reshaping policy without proper legislative oversight. It forces negotiation, scrutiny, and compromise.

HB 5554 removes those guardrails.

This is not a minor procedural change. It is a fundamental shift in how Connecticut governs itself, concentrating more power in the hands of whichever party is in control.

Tell the Government Administration and Elections Committee and tell them to vote NO on HB 5554.
