While it’s being framed as “clean energy,” the reality is that it could increase costs for ratepayers through charges built into your monthly bill.

The proposal expands long-term subsidy programs, locks in payments for up to 20 years, and requires all customers to help fund programs that many may never use. At the same time, it lacks clear cost controls and provides limited safeguards to protect consumers from rising bills.

Connecticut already has some of the highest electricity costs in the nation. Policies that add new costs without strong oversight risk making affordability even worse.
