And it worked. Together, we helped put the brakes on tolls in Connecticut.
But apparently, some ideas just won't stay in the rearview mirror.
The Connecticut Citizens' Assembly has released a new proposal calling for highway tolls to return to our state, potentially imposing up to $950 million a year in toll charges on drivers.
Connecticut residents already pay income taxes, sales taxes, gas taxes, and numerous other fees. The proposal raises the prospect of another cost for people traveling on our highways.
Connecticut sent a clear message in 2019, and that message hasn't changed: No tolls.
Now it's time to remind Governor Lamont: We didn't want tolls then, and we still don't want them today.
