It’s been more than 85 days since Governor Lamont courageously vetoed a housing bill that would have overridden local control and imposed sweeping mandates on Connecticut towns.
Since June, lawmakers have said a new version is coming — but the public has seen nothing. No hearings. No draft language. No transparency.
Now, talk of a special session is still floating around — but here’s the truth:
You don’t have to call one.
If a housing bill is being written, don’t rush it behind closed doors.
Wait until the full legislative session, where the public can weigh in, ask questions, and have a voice.
Because dropping a massive bill overnight — the same day it’s being voted on — is no way to govern.
And forcing towns to live under one-size-fits-all mandates with no input is no solution.
Be transparent. Show the bill. Let the public speak.
No bill is better than a bad bill.
