Why 2025 Is a Make-or-Break Year for Radiology Advocacy
June 12, 2025 by Megan Boyd

As healthcare policy evolves, 2025 is shaping up to be a pivotal year for advocacy. From the ongoing push to reform the Medicare physician fee schedule to the fight for federal breast cancer screening coverage, there’s real momentum.

One key issue is the need for a consistent, federal law that ensures insurance coverage for breast cancer screening, especially for women with dense breasts. While federal law currently requires patient notification, actual coverage for supplemental imaging remains inconsistent from state to state. Additionally, employer-sponsored health plans frequently bypass these state mandates, leaving high-risk patients with out-of-pocket costs. That’s why federal bills like the Find It Early Act and the Access to Breast Cancer Diagnosis Act are critical as they aim to eliminate cost-sharing for medically necessary screening.

Take Action: Support S. 1410: End Cost Barriers to Lifesaving Breast Cancer Screenings

The Find It Early Act, Senate Bill 1410, introduced by Senators Klobuchar (D-MN) and Marshall (R-KS), would remove financial barriers for high-risk individuals by ensuring coverage without cost-sharing.

Your voice can make a difference:

  • Contact your members of Congress and urge their support for S. 1410
  • Share this call to action with your colleagues and patients
  • Participate in advocacy efforts

Take action now – because when physicians speak, policymakers listen.
