Take Action: Physician’s Reimbursement Has Flatlined and Patients Are Paying the Price
Since January 2025, Medicare physician reimbursement has been cut by 2.83%. Over the past decade, when adjusted for inflation, Medicare physician payments have decreased by 33%.
These aren’t just numbers – they represent real, devastating consequences:
- Shuttered practices
- Long patient wait times
- Seniors are unable to access the care they need.
It doesn’t have to be this way.
Senator Roger Marshall (R-KS) has introduced S. 1640, the Medicare Patient Access and Practice Stabilization Act of 2025—the companion bill to H.R. 879—which would increase Medicare physician reimbursement by 8.51%. This increase reflects a prorated reversal of the 2.83% Medicare cut physician practices have faced since the beginning of 2025, combined with an inflation-based update. This bill represents a critical step toward stabilizing practices and protecting patients’ access to care.
Lawmakers have told us directly: “The squeaky wheel gets the grease.” However, fewer than 3% of them have a background in healthcare. That means they need to hear directly from you – the physicians, leaders, and professionals who are living through this crisis every day.
This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to fix what’s broken. We cannot afford to stay silent.
Take one minute to urge your members of Congress to support H.R. 879/S. 1640. When enough of us speak up, they listen.
