Dear AACN Advocate:
It is imperative that your Representative and Senators hear about academic nursing priorities directly from you! We urge you to take action by contacting your members of Congress outlining the three ways they can support academic nursing, including:
- Funding all Title VIII Nursing Workforce Development Programs and the National Institute of Nursing Research in fiscal year (FY) 2026 at the bipartisan Senate Appropriations Committee-approved levels, including:
- At least $303.472 million for the Title VIII Programs, which address all aspects of nursing workforce demand, including education, practice, recruitment, and retention.
- At least $197.693 million for the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) and retaining NINR as an independent Institute within NIH, as well as highlighting the essential role of nurse researchers and scientists as they make groundbreaking and lifesaving healthcare discoveries that inform nursing practice and education.
- Reauthorizing the Title VIII Programs by cosponsoring and passing the bipartisan Title VIII Nursing Workforce Reauthorization Act of 2025 (S.1874/H.R.3593).
- Cosponsoring and passing the following bills that support our schools, faculty, and students:
- The Providing Real-World Education and Clinical Experience by Precepting Tomorrow’s (PRECEPT) Nurses Act (S.131/H.R.392).
- The Nurse Corps Tax Parity Act (S.1548/H.R.3145).
- The POST GRAD Act (S.1948/H.R.3711).
Thank you for your efforts in conducting this essential outreach to your members of Congress.
