This program provides life-saving asthma management and prevention resources to states, territories, and municipalities, reducing hospitalizations and emergency visits while saving $71 for every $1 invested. Without this funding, many states will lose essential asthma surveillance tools and evidence-based interventions that protect children, families, and underserved communities.
This critical public health program was included in the budget proposals in both the House and the Senate. Although we are getting closer to securing the funding for the NACP in FY26, the Senate and House proposals are still up for negotiation before they are finalized. We have to continue to keep up the pressure and ensure that this program is included in the final budget that the President signs.
