Your Voice is Needed to Stop New Jersey Optometric Scope Bill
The New Jersey Assembly is expected to vote as early as Monday, December 22nd on Assembly Bill 920 that would put patient safety at risk by authorizing optometrists, who are NOT medical doctors or trained surgeons, to perform surgery on and around the eye using lasers and scalpels.

It is critical that all ophthalmologists in New Jersey take the following action IMMEDIATELY!

Send an email message to your state assemblymember. Use separate addresses for your home and office to ensure you reach the representatives who represent each location.

Include a personalized message to the letter to reinforce why surgery should only be performed by highly trained medical physicians and surgeons. Use laymen's terms when describing specific surgical procedures.
