Take Action to Halt the Medicare Physician Payment Cut
At the beginning of this year, nearly every provider, except physicians, received a positive Medicare payment update. Even payments from the federal government to Medicare Advantage plans increased this year. Congress had the opportunity but failed to act at the end of 2024 to stop a 2.83 percent Medicare cut to physician payment that took effect on January 1. Lawmakers can still act to halt this cut, but they must hear from physicians.

Legislation, the bipartisan Medicare Patient Access and Practice Stabilization Act of 2025 (S. 1640 / H.R. 879), has been introduced in the Senate and House. This bill would stop the 2.83 percent Medicare cut and provide for the remainder of this year a 2 percent positive update -- an increase equivalent to roughly half of the Medicare Economic Index (MEI) for 2025.

Take action now and ask your members of Congress to cosponsor the Medicare Patient Access and Practice Stabilization Act of 2025.
