“Fairness Act” is NOT About Fairness

Details

The misnamed “Fairness Act” had been officially introduced in the PA State House.  A co-sponsorship memo has begun circulating in the State Senate.  If this bill becomes law, it would add “sexual orientation and gender identity or expression” to the PA Human Relations Act which impacts employment, housing and public accommodations.   The phrase “actual or perceived” has also been added throughout the bill.

In the State House it is HB 300.  It currently has 42 co-sponsors – all Democrats.

Here are some of the problems:

  • Section 4 (b) says, “The term "employer" with respect to discriminatory practices based on race, color, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin or non-job related handicap or disability, includes religious, fraternal, charitable and sectarian corporations and associations employing four or more persons within the Commonwealth.”
  • Both public and private schools would be forced to hire professing homosexuals and transgenders.
  • School districts and colleges/universities must allow boys/men who identify as female to play in girls’/women’s sports.
  • Christian bakers, videographers, web designers, etc. would be forced to endorse same-sex “marriage” by providing services.
  • Open women’s homeless shelters to men who identify as female.
  • Force all Christian adoption/foster agencies to place children in a same-sex household.   Remember back in June 2018 Bethany Christian Services agreed to do so in order to continue serving Philadelphia children because of Philly’s Fair Practices ordinance which included ‘sexual orientation”.   If HB 300 or the Senate companion bill becomes law, all Christian adoption and foster agencies would be forced to place vulnerable children in same-sex and transgender households.

Action Steps:

Tell your State Rep and State Senator to oppose the so-called “Fairness Act”.
