Protect Supplement Access in Illinois
A recently introduced bill (HB 3027) would prohibit the sale of dietary supplements for weight loss and muscle building to minors under the age of 18 without a prescription. The major problem with this bill is that we don't know how many supplements will fall under its loosely defined categories. This could restrict access to hormones like progesterone and DHEA or even essential nutrients like B vitamins and choline. Do we really want to restrict access to all these products?

This bill will likely lead to these supplements being stored behind store counters. Hidden from a customer’s view, some people may never become aware of a product that would perfectly suit their health needs--or be too intimidated to ask for it.

Write to the legislature and tell them to oppose this bill.
