We share your concern about the potential impact these policy changes and other key actions may have on the kidney care workforce, especially nephrology nurses, and on the patients we serve. Of particular concern are recent Executive Orders and the reduction in staff at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Department of Veterans Affairs, and other federal agencies with the responsibility for healthcare services. Additionally, we recognize that potential Congressional proposals to significantly reduce funding for Medicaid and other safety-net programs could have severe consequences for the tens of millions of people living with kidney disease nationwide.
ANNA is working with our partners in the kidney and nursing communities, as well as with other relevant stakeholders, to advocate on behalf of the nephrology nursing profession and our patients. We will keep the ANNA membership informed of our advocacy activities and identify ways you can help support these efforts.
We’re listening and want to provide you with an opportunity to share your personal experiences with us regarding how recent federal policy changes and actions are impacting your work, your patients, and/or your personal lives. We urge you to share your stories with us as they will assist us in gaining an understanding of the true impact of these federal decisions and will inform our advocacy actions. Please be assured that all responses will be kept confidential and can be submitted anonymously. Share your story here: www.annanurse.org/share-my-story
Whether you have a story to share or not, you can still take action! It is essential that nephrology nurses make their voices heard and educate Members of Congress about ANNA’s legislative priorities.
ANNA is actively monitoring developments from the Administration and Congress and remains fully committed to leveraging our resources to advocate on behalf of the nephrology nursing profession and the patients we serve.
Thank you for using your voice to advocate for your patients and your colleagues!
