Senate Companion to ACPAC Modernization Act

In the last few years, rulemaking activity at the Department of Transportation (DOT) regarding airline passenger rights highlighted that travel agencies are not properly represented when decisions are made. Travel agencies are regulated by the DOT as sellers of air tickets, and travel advisors like you are consumer advocates as well as travel consumers. These regulations can have a substantial and lasting impact on your business.

Thanks to ASTA’s ongoing outreach and education on the issue, Rep. Dina Titus (D-NV) recognized this as a problem, and reintroduced the Aviation Consumer Protection Advisory Committee (ACPAC) Modernization Act (H.R. 5663) to add a ticket agent seat to this key committee within DOT.

Many of your colleagues advocated for H.R. 5663 during ASTA’s Legislative Day to ensure that the travel agency industry has a seat at the table during important policy debates. We now need your voice to keep this legislation in front of lawmakers. Please use the letter to the right to email your Senators and ask them to consider introducing corresponding legislation. As always, personal letters are more compelling - please take a moment to add your own story.
