Rep. Lawler (R-NY) introduced new legislation that would restore audiology to the federal definition of a professional degree for purposes of federal student loan eligibility. We need your voice to help move it forward. The Professional Student Degree Act clarifies the definition of “professional degree” in the Higher Education Act and explicitly includes audiology. This is a critical fix that ensures audiology students remain eligible for the higher federal loan limits intended for professional doctoral education. Without this clarification, audiology students could face reduced access to federal loans and financial barriers to entering the profession.
