In his last Budget Address, New Jersey Governor Murphy Vows to Make “Largest Investment” with Taxpayer Money to Expand Abortion

Pledges to Recruit and Incentivize Abortionists to Move to New Jersey

On Tuesday afternoon, pro-abortion Governor Phil Murphy delivered his final Budget Address. Along with his reliably predictable platitudes and self-aggrandizing boasts claiming to feel the pain of “our state’s working- and middle-class families,” he pledged to include tens of millions of dollars to incentivize and recruit OB-GYNs from other states to move to NJ to perform abortions.
“And as we all know well, right now, the single biggest challenge facing the people of New Jersey is that the cost of living is way too high,” he told the audience as he unveiled his $58.1 billion bloated budget proposal stuffed with rewards for his favorite political supporters.
Not surprisingly, Murphy’s Fiscal Year 2026 proposed budget also includes $52 million in taxpayer funds to Planned Parenthood’s family planning/abortion business. By the time he leaves office, the total amount of New Jersey taxpayer funds Governor Murphy has awarded the abortion giant will total more than $268 million, an amount he proudly admits to having “quadrupled” since his first budget.
On January 14, 2025, during his State of the State Address, the abortion-obsessed Governor promised to stockpile abortion pills. The stockpiling of abortion pills is a priority of the Reproductive Freedom Alliance formed by 23 Pro-Abortion Governors to strengthen and expand “access to abortion.” The Alliance admittedly works hand in hand with abortion groups to promote a radical pro-abortion agenda. Not surprisingly, Gov. Murphy is a proud member of this Alliance.
During his State of the State address, Murphy also called on the Legislature to pass legislation to remove out-of-pocket costs for abortion care. He said these measures were necessary steps to protecting and expanding “reproductive freedom.”
Murphy has already worked overtime to expand “reproductive freedom.”
Abortions in New Jersey increased by 22.3% from 2020 to 2023. According to the most recent estimated monthly statistics from the Guttmacher Institute, approximately 59,700 abortions were performed in the state in 2023, the year after Gov. Murphy signed the radical Reproductive Freedom Act.
Gov. Murphy’s insatiable desire to increase the already staggering number of babies killed by abortion in our state remains unabated.
The lives of 59,700 future New Jersey citizens extinguished in just one year weighs heavy on our hearts, as does every single abortion. If we acknowledge that every abortion is a tragedy, what can we say about 59,700 in one year? We will never know what these precious lives might have contributed to our state, our society, and our communities, but what we do know is that abortion does not equal progress for women.
The reality is that New Jersey’s extreme abortion laws exploit and victimize women and young girls by granting immunity to sex traffickers, pedophiles, medical professionals, and other bad actors who prey on vulnerable women. 59,700 abortions show that our government is tragically failing women by actively promoting more abortions.
We are counting the days until Gov. Murphy leaves office so we can chart a bright new course, one that encourages parenting and adoption and celebrates women’s life-giving capacity.
