Time and time again, legislators tell us how they are inspired by their constituents to work on patient-centered policy. And that's you! Elected officials truly value meeting the people they represent. You don't have to be a law or policy expert to have a meeting with your legislator-- just take the time to get to know them, tell them your story and talk about how your life could be better.
If you're new to this, watch our video about how to make the most of an in-person meeting. It breaks the whole process down into easy steps. The important thing to know is that legislators truly want to connect. Whether you go alone or you put together a group of friends and neighbors, the time will be well spent.
We make it easy: Use our template invitation letter on the right, and your invitation will go only to your legislators in your district.
You can customize your letter by:
Speak honestly about whatever you're comfortable discussing. You don't have to go alone-- put together a group if you want to-- and you don't have to limit yourself to healthcare. They are your elected representatives and the important thing is the relationship, not the "pitch."
Most of all, have fun!
