Tell Members of Congress to Support The Build Green Act For Clean Transportation Funding
Per Inside Climate News, "The transportation sector now makes up 28 percent of U.S. carbon emissions, and there has been little progress in reducing that burden. Carbon emissions from transportation in 2022 were 19 percent higher than in 1990, and they fell less than 1 percent from 2021 to 2022, according to the Environmental Protection Agency."

Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and Representative Robert Garcia (D-CA) have teamed up to introduce a Build Green Act (S. 4277 and HR. 8253) which will commit $500 billion over 10 years to accelerate the shift to clean transportation.  The act picks up where the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act in 2021 left off and continues ideas from Biden's Build Back Better and the Green New Deal that have yet to be enacted, including more electric vehicle infrastructure,$150 billion for fixed-route public transportation projects like subways, light rail and bus rapid transit systems, requirements that every state receive a minimum of $4 billion in funds, no less than 30 percent of total grant funds would go to rural areas, and no less than 40 percent to disadvantaged communities and areas that currently experience high adverse health and environmental impacts from pollution, and more.

This is some of the bold action we've been asking for!  We need to thank the sponsors, urge our Members of Congress to join as co-sponsors, and for them to pass this legislation, expeditiously!
