Tell your federal representatives: we need a new Harkin-Engel Protocol
Without a legally binding agreement, cocoa companies are unlikely to adjust their practices. The lack of progress seen with the Harkin-Engel Protocol is a testament to that. A new protocol should aim to eliminate all forced child labor—not just the worst forms of it—and replace the voluntary standards for public certification with compliance requirements that become increasingly strict over time.
