Here are a few of their most common arguments against wind, debunked:
- Affordability: According to a 2025 IRENA report, onshore wind is 53% cheaper than fossil fuels, making it the cheapest electricity source around.
- Reliability: People mistakenly assume that wind farms only produce power on windy days, but most wind turbines can generate electricity with very little wind. And in conjunction with battery storage, it becomes possible to store wind energy and deploy it when needed.
- Environmental impact: There is no evidence that offshore wind is responsible for whale die-offs, nor that wind turbines cause a disproportionate number of bird deaths. In fact, turbines cause fewer than 1 million bird deaths annually—a tiny fraction compared to the nearly 1 billion bird deaths caused by windows and 4 billion caused by house cats. Even oil pits are responsible for 3 times as many bird deaths as wind turbines.
