Currently, the United States has no standardized approach to food date labeling. This has resulted in endless variations in language around quality, safety, and sell-by dates, causing consumers and businesses to throw perfectly good food away every day.
The bipartisan Food Date Labeling Act would fix this by establishing a federal date labeling regulation, bringing the number of acceptable labels down to just two. It’s an opportunity to tackle food waste and methane emissions in one fell swoop!
