According to two studies from last year, we have likely already surpassed the 1.5 degrees Celsius threshold—and one Columbia University study from February of this year estimates that global warming acceleration could bring us to 2 degrees Celsius by the 2030s, much sooner than the mid-century. Policymakers must recognize these updated findings and introduce climate and energy policies that truly meet the moment.
