Brewer, Obama exchange tense words over book, immigration at airport
President Barack Obama arrived at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport and was greeted by Gov. Jan Brewer, among other dignitaries and local mayors. The two spoke intensely for a few minutes. At one point, she pointed her finger at him. At another, they were talking over each other.
Obama appeared to walk away from Brewer while they were still talking.
"He was a little disturbed about my book, 'Scorpions for Breakfast,' " Brewer told a pool reporter who is a member of the traveling White House press corps shortly after her encounter with Obama. "I said to him that I have all the respect in the world for the office of the president. The book is what the book is. I asked him if he read the book. He said he read the excerpt."
Asked what aspect of the book disturbed him, Brewer said: "That he didn't feel that I had treated him cordially. I said I was sorry he felt that way, but I didn't get my sentence finished. Anyway, we're glad he's here." Read more here.

Rush: Obama Promises To End Bailouts - Then, Touts Success Of GM Bailout
On today’s show, Rush Limbaugh said that President Obama’s State of the Union Address was "chock full of lies" - and contradictions.
“So he spends a whole speech talking about no more bailouts, we’re not going to do that. No handouts, and then he gives as his greatest example of American prosperity, a company he bailed out.”
Rush criticized the President’s speech which he called “chock full of lies.” He denounced Obama’s claim that General Motors is back as the world’s number one automaker and said that the UAW was handed GM by the Obama administration in a bailout.
Limbaugh also attacked the President’s idea that teamwork is what made America great. He said that our founding documents are about the “rights and freedom of the individual versus government.” See more here. |

Obama Says He's 'Protecting Our Kids From Mercury' - While Mandating It In Their Homes
Last night, Pres. Obama reaffirmed his determination to protect our country’s children from the dangers of mercury, despite his vigorous defense of a mandate that all Americans put more of it into their homes.
“I will not back down from protecting our kids from mercury poisoning,” Obama promised in last night’s State Of The Union address.
But, Pres. Obama, apparently, isn’t concerned with the health risk he’s subjecting Americans to by requiring them to put mercury light bulbs in their homes – a risk his own EPA even warns about on its Web site.
When the mercury light bulb breaks in a home, “some of the mercury is released as vapor and may pose potential health risks,” the EPA says.
And, in December, Obama touted new regulations to protect coal power plant workers from the evil stuff: Read more here. |

WH Contradicts Obama's Middle-Class Income Claim-As He's Making It
(CNSNews.com) - During its “Enhanced Livestream” Internet broadcast of President Barack Obama’s State of the Union Address on Tuesday night, the White House posted a graphic on the screen directly contradicting a claim Obama was making about middle-class incomes at the very moment Obama was making the claim.
“Long before the recession, jobs and manufacturing began leaving our shores,” Obama said at 5 minutes and 34 second into the speech. “Technology made businesses more efficient, but also made some jobs obsolete. Folks at the top saw their incomes rise like never before, but most hardworking Americans struggled with costs that were growing, paychecks that weren’t, and personal debt that kept piling up.” Read more here. |

Rachel Maddow: Democrats Must Do More to Promote Abortion
Liberals love substituting the word “choice” for abortion in their futile attempt to render it bloodless. Liberals despise when those they consider allies “choose” to reconsider their enthusiasm for abortion.
A clearly worried Rachel Maddow commiserated with former congressman Alan Grayson on her MSNBC show Monday about Republican state legislators around the nation imposing a slew of restrictions on abortion over the last year.
Here’s how Maddow described it before speaking with Grayson –
Today in an anti-abortion march in Washington (to mark anniversary of Roe v. Wade decision), the anti-abortion movement was treated to a speech from the Speaker of the House, John Boehner, who said he is working to overturn the Roe versus Wade decision. It has been a breathtaking year of watching abortion rights disappear in the United States. There have been more rollbacks of abortion rights since the 2010 elections than in any time since Roe versus Wade was passed 39 years ago. Read more here.
