PLEASE NOTE: The folks in Mississippi are not any more clever than our Tennessee lawmakers. Rep. Matthew Hill (R-Jonesborough) has passed a similar bill in the State House and Sen. Mae Beavers (R-Mt. Juliet) has it on the Senate Floor on Thursday. "Life Defense Act of 2012." HB 3808 by *Hill( *SB 3323 by *Beavers)
The state of Mississippi is down to one abortion facility and the governor signed a bill yesterday that exemplifies the kind of genius seen nowadays in pro-life legislation. A measure that protects women from unscrupulous abortion practitioners who have no ability to admit them to a hospital in cases of botched abortions may be the ticket to essentially shutting down the last remaining abortion clinic in the state.
Yesterday, Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant signed a bill putting new requirements on the books for abortion practitioners who operate in the state. They would have to be certified in the state as an obstetrician-gynecologist with admitting privileges at a local hospital in case a botched abortion requires a woman to be immediately hospitalized. A local Planned Parenthood abortion business in California is copycatting the 40 Days for Life campaign, which recently resulted in saving the lives of more than 700 unborn children from abortion. The abortion business has set up its own 40 Days of Prayer for the local abortion center.
“We trust you to decide about your sexuality, having your children, and planning your family,” says a flier promoting the Humbolt County Clergy for Choice event. “We are religious leaders who value all human life. We accept that religions differ about when life begins. We are here to help.”
“We believe that human life is holy. That’s why we believe in your right to choose to be a parent or not,” the pro-abortion religious leaders continue. “It can be helpful to talk with friends you trust, with licensed counselors, and with whatever religious person you choose. Humboldt County Clergy are available to talk with you about the spiritual aspects of choice. Find out more by calling Six Rivers Planned Parenthood.”
“Humboldt County Clergy for Choice invite you to set aside time with your family and community to support women and reproductive justice for 40 days from March 18th through April 27th,” they say.
The flyer promotes specific prayers for abortion for each day:
* “Day 1: Today we pray for women for whom pregnancy is not good news, that they know they have choices.”
* “Day 34: Today we give thanks for abortion escorts who guide women safely through hostile gauntlets of protestors.”
*”Day 36 Today we pray for the families we’ve chosen, May they know the blessing of choice Read more here.
NARAL is attacking the pro-life October Baby film currently playing in hundreds of movie theaters across the country because proceeds from ticket sales benefit pregnancy centers providing women abortion alternatives.
The makers of the movie “October Baby” are donating a portion of their profits to a network of anti-choice groups. These groups – known as “crisis pregnancy centers” – are anti-choice operations that pose as abortion clinics. Once a woman walks through a crisis pregnancy center’s door, she could be subjected to anti-choice propaganda and lies about abortion, birth control, and even pregnancy.
Sign our letter to the CEO of Sony Music Entertainment, the parent company distributing the film. Make sure he knows that his company is funding deception. A network of anti-choice groups that deceive women will receive a portion of proceeds from the movie “October Baby.” Sign NARAL Pro-Choice America’s letter to the CEO of Sony Music Entertainment, the parent company distributing the film. Dave Andrusko of National Right to Life responds to the attacks:
It’s no secret that pro-abortionists are thugs and hypocrites who will do most anything to shut down Crisis Pregnancy Centers (CPCs) and stifle free speech at every turn. Not satisfied with shoveling in state and federal money by the truckload, they work overtime to make sure not a dime—directly or indirectly—goes to CPCs. All this, of course, in the phony-baloney guise of making sure women receive “accurate information”—this from the same folks who will go to ANY length to kill informed consent legislation.
So, what do you do if you have zero tolerance for anything or anybody that might make women think about having an abortion? Or help them to care for their baby if they choose life? Resort to coercion, of course, under the pretense of furthering “truth.” Read more here.

'Stillborn' Argentine baby found alive in morgue - 12 hours after being pronounced dead
A newborn in Argentina declared dead shortly after her birth was discovered 12 hours later alive and well in her coffin.
When six-months pregnant Analia Bouter gave birth at a hospital in Resistencia on April 3, staff told her the baby was stillborn and showed no signs of life, the BBC reported, citing local media.
Twelve hours later, Bouter and her husband took a trip to the morgue to see their daughter’s body.
“That night I went with my husband to where the coffin was and he opened it up,” she told reporters.
“Immediately I heard her cry.”
Fabian Veron, the baby's father, told reporters outside the hospital, “It was like she was waking up. Then the morgue lady picked her up.”
The baby girl was alive, breathing and reported to be in good health.
“She spent 12 hours in the freezing cold of that morgue. I saw for myself the ice on her body,” Bouter told Argentina’s Clarin newspaper. Read more here.
Arizona Governor Signs Bill Banning Abortions After 20 Weeks
Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer signed a pro-life bill into law today to ban abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy.
House members passed the bill by a 37-22 vote and abortions after that time period would not be allowed except in very rare cases of medical emergency. The bill also requires abortion facilities to allow women to have an ultrasound of their unborn baby at least 24 hours prior to having the abortion. In many cases women change their minds about a planned abortion after seeing the images of their developing child.
Americans United for Life president Charmaine Yoest commended Brewer and called the bill “a life-protecting bill designed to ensure that women don’t suffer from the risks of a dangerous, late-term procedure.” She said Arizona is the first state in the country to enact a late-term ban based on concerns over protecting women’s health by demonstrating that abortion is not only bad for the unborn child, it is also bad for women.
