This is very unpleasant and I am trying to get my head and heart around what is happening.
Clearly, none of us know what is really going on the heart of another, but to see well known, highly visible and followed, people take action like this is just heartbreaking.
Heartbreaking for the individuals and their lives and spirits, but also heartbreaking for those who have been followers/admirers and the confusion this will cause in many of their lives.
For many many years I was director of the High School Sunday School Dept (11th and 12th grades) at our church in Huntsville, AL. We had a Revival with a pastor/evangelist that God blessed enormously. Just a month or two later we learned that he went to Israel I think it was, with another women and left his wife and special needs son. One of my 'kids' (who is a pastor now) stood with tears in his eyes asked me how in the world that happened. I told Larry that humans are just humans, and that should keep our eyes on Jesus, who will never fail or disappoint us.
I just have to repeat that today. JESUS NEVER FAILS! The other thing I would add is that Christians MUST be studying their Bibles, be in a Bible-believing and preaching church, and praying on a regular basis.

Joshua Harris falling away from faith: 'I am not a Christian'
By Melissa Barnhart, CP Reporter
Joshua Harris, the author of the best-selling book I Kissed Dating Goodbye, announced in an Instagram post Friday that he is no longer a Christian.
The shocking admission comes a week after Harris publicly announced that he and his wife, Shannon, were separating after 20 years of marriage, but would remain "friends" as they continue to raise their three children together.
In the Instagram post, Harris commented on the responses he received about his pending divorce and dropped another shocking announcement by revealing that he is "falling away" from the faith and no longer identifies as a Christian.
Harris also apologized to the "LGBTQ+ community" for not supporting same-sex marriage and affirming their place in the church.

Joshua Harris marches in pride parade after apologizing to LGBT community

Former pastor and evangelical author Joshua Harris demonstrated his support for the LGBT community by marching in Vancouver's annual Pride Parade less than a month after announcing he no longer considers himself a Christian.
On August 4, Harris, former pastor of Covenant Life Church in Gaithersburg, Maryland, shared several Instagram photos of himself participating in the British Columbia parade, engaging in Pride festivities, and "swapping stories" with LGBT activists.
"An American in Canada marching with the British Consulate in the Pride Parade," he captioned one photo.

Hillsong worship leader clarifies he hasn't renounced faith, but it's on 'incredibly shaky ground'
By Leah MarieAnn Klett, Christian Post Reporter
Marty Sampson, the worship music writer who recently revealed he is "genuinely losing" his faith, clarified that while he hasn't "renounced" his Christianity, it's nevertheless on "incredibly shaky ground."
Sampson, known for penning lyrics for Hillsong Worship, Hillsong United, Delirious and Young & Free, responded to a Christian Post op-ed titled "Reaching out to a Hillsong leader who is renouncing his faith." In it, columnist Michael Brown said he prays Sampson "would have the integrity of heart to seek the truth earnestly, with humility and passion, and that all others with questions will put those questions on the table."
After emphasizing he truly wants answers to his questions, Sampson admitted he's "struggling with many parts of the belief system that seem so incoherent with common human morality."
"If most of humankind had a choice, would we not rid the world of the scourge of cancer? Or sickness and disease? Why doesn't God do such a thing? Of course there is an answer to this question, but the majority of a typical Christian's life is not spent considering these things," he wrote. "Questions such as these remain in the too hard basket."

Christian Rocker Posts Stunning Response to Recent Apostasy of Christian Leaders
August 14, 2019
John Cooper, the lead singer for the band Skillet, posted a stunning response on Facebook yesterday to the recent public renunciations of Christianity by Joshua Harris and then Hillsong songwriter, Marty Sampson. (Sampson has since slightly walked back his initial statement after Dr. Michael Brown posted an open letter challenging Sampson's assertions.) Below is Cooper's entire statement, which was also published at Cogent Christianity. I'm reposting it here because it's so good and so important, I want to make sure everyone who follows this blog sees it. Thank you, John Cooper, for saying what few have the insight or courage to say. God bless you, brother!
"Ok I'm saying it. Because it's too important not to. What is happening in Christianity? More and more of our outspoken leaders or influencers who were once 'faces' of the faith are falling away. And at the same time they are being very vocal and bold about it. Shockingly they still want to influence others (for what purpose?) as they announce that they are leaving the faith. I'll state my conclusion, then I'll state some rebuttals to statements I've read by some of them. Firstly, I never judge people outside of my faith. Even if they hate religion or Christianity. That is not my place and I have many friends who disagree with my religion and that is 100% fine with me. However, when it comes to people within my faith, there must be a measure of loyalty and friendship and accountability to each other and the Word of God.

One does wonder if this scripture is applicable or what is going on, but this is just ONE MORE REASON that we much be praying for our nation, our culture, our churches, our pastors and leaders - political and spiritual.
1 John 2:18-19 NKJV
Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour. [19] They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us.
Blessings
