SB 584 & HB 659 - Support Health Insurance Identification Card Transparency
What does Senate Bill 584 and House Bill 659 do?

Modifies what must be included on health insurance and pharmacy benefit identification cards to include if the plan is state regulated and includes a QR code for patients to access the existing Department of Financial Services Division of Consumer Services website under Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis.

How does this help Patients and Providers?

Currently there is no way for a subscriber/patient to know if their health plan is state regulated or federally regulated, and the "FL" required to be included on cards under this legislation would help identify the regulation of each plan, and who to go to for help if the consumer is at an impasse with their insurer for their contractual obligations.
