AB 1973 (Aguiar-Curry) Removes the first-trimester limit on nurse practitioners, certified nurse-midwives, and physician assistants performing abortions allowing them to perform procedural (surgical) abortions in the second and third trimester if licensed and trained (online-only/simulated training doesn't qualify). For these later-term procedures, providers must have written protocols to consult with or transfer care to a physician when a case exceeds their training. The bill also shields California physicians from state discipline if solely disciplined or convicted elsewhere for performing an abortion.

Hello, my name is [Your Name], I’m a concerned constituent of California.
I am calling to urge you to VETO AB 1973. This bill expands abortion in California by allowing more providers to perform abortions at any stage of pregnancy. Women deserve real care, support, and compassion, not policies that can cause harm.
Please VETO AB 1973.
