The Illinois House of Representatives is deliberating HB4340, a bill that would streamline and modernize the Illinois Court of Claims process.

Background: 

Forefront has been working on this legislation in collaboration with the Illinois Collaboration on Youth and the Illinois Health and Human Services Coalition for several years. It aims to reform several areas of the Court of Claims process. While some provisions of the bill are still undergoing negotiations, broadly speaking, the bill aims to speed up the process for those that must file a claim, especially when the claim results from a lapsed appropriation and is not contested by the State grant-making agency.
