Mental health begins in our earliest days. That’s why it’s critical that families with young children have access to mental health services that support healthy social and emotional development, especially when children face trauma or adversity.
As Congress considers the next appropriations bill, now is the time to urge lawmakers to protect and expand funding for early childhood mental health programs.
What’s at stake:
- Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health (IECMH) Grants
provide direct mental health services for children birth to age 5 and their families, with a focus on trauma-informed care and workforce development. - Project LAUNCH (Linking Actions for Unmet Needs in Children’s Health)
helps states and communities strengthen early childhood systems to address behavioral health needs in children birth to age 8. - Pregnant and Postpartum Women (PPW) Program
provides treatment and recovery support for women with substance use disorders, improving outcomes for both mothers and children.
Take action this week! Write to your members of Congress and remind them that mental health starts early—and deserves strong, sustained funding.
