Tell Congress to End the Install Date Requirement in Regional Standards

Congress created a unique and unfair requirement in the Department of Energy’s Regional Standards for split-system air-conditioning equipment.

The unnecessary install date requirement has led to stranded inventory, confusion, and financial losses for HVACR distributors and contractors. It also undermines the energy savings the standards were designed to achieve.

We’re asking Congress to fix this by passing a narrow amendment to Section 306(E)(ii) of the Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA). This change would apply the date of manufacture standard uniformly across all regions and bring fairness and clarity to the HVACR supply chain.

Take action now: tell your lawmakers to support this simple fix and protect HVACR distributors from future disruptions.
