The Biden Administration recently announced several goals for biotechnology and biomanufacturing, including a goal to convert bio-based feedstock into recyclable polymers that can displace at least 90% of today's plastics. Specifically, the U.S. Department of Energy is addressing this transition with its Strategy for Plastics Innovation, a DOE-wide approach focused on GHG emissions reduction, new recycling technologies, sustainable manufacturing, and polymers redesign for improved end-of-life properties.
