IADA WAGE & BENEFIT SURVEY CHANGED TO MAY 2ND -- DEALERS URGED TO PARTICIPATE IN NADA WORKFORCE / COMPENSATION STUDY
  Deadline Approaching Next Week—May 2nd

NADA and ATD member dealers have until May 2, 2012, to take part in NADA's new Dealership Workforce Study (DWS) that will analyze employee compensation, benefits, turnover and other data. There is no cost to participate in the study. This enhanced annual study replaces the prior biennial NADA Compensation Study.  All individual dealership data will be kept secure and remain strictly confidential.

"The study will provide dealers with valuable comparative data to assess and adjust, if necessary, their employee compensation programs, health and retirement benefit packages, and find out what it takes to be competitive in recruiting new employees,"
said Marilynn Youngs, senior director of NADA University.

The online survey should take you about 20 minutes to complete! You do not have to go through your payroll records at all. Simply download your payroll data from your DMS, save in the Excel template provided on the DWS website, and upload using the secure web server. Follow the step-by-step instructions on the DWS website.

***Visit the survey web site to participate***
www.nadaworkforcestudy.com

Participating dealers receive an individualized comparison report (Basic Report) and a Driven Management Guide summary report at no charge.

Why should I participate in the DWS?

• Learn how your dealership compares to other dealerships in terms of compensation, benefits, retention, turnover, and other factors—and fine-tune your pay plans and benefits packages to enhance your recruitment, motivation, and retention efforts
• Make the results as complete, detailed, and statistically valid as possible—the more participants, the more authoritative the study can be
• Provide the data to enable NADA and your state and metro associations to better serve your interests in legal and legislative matters
• Provide information that NADA University can use to determine the HR issues facing dealers and to develop the educational solutions needed to address those issues

  ILLINOIS LEGISLATURE RETURNS TO SPRINGFIELD

Following an extended spring break the Illinois Legislature reconvened last week still grappling with Pension and Medicaid reforms in trying to put together next year’s fiscal budget.

IADA is still working on a few legislative issues involving the Secretary of State and we will keep you advised if there are any concerns as we get ready for the final month of the spring legislative session.  The IADA Board of Directors has elected to hold the Legislative Conference and Reception every other year since this is a budget session of the Illinois Legislature and there are only a few legislative issues remaining impacting your dealership!

  REMINDER: NLRB POSTING REQUIREMENT DELAYED
Last week, the DC Circuit Court of Appeals issued a temporary injunction delaying the National Labor Relations Board’s (NLRB) requirement that employers post a sign informing employees of their right to unionize.  The posting requirement that was set to take effect on April 30, 2012. The court issued the injunction so that it can resolve conflicting District Court opinions about the validity of the posting requirement.  This means that employers will not be required to display the poster while the court sorts out the various legal challenges.  A ruling from the Circuit Court is not expected for several months. IADA will provide additional information as the legal challenge is resolved. Additional information can be found on the NLRB’s website at: https://www.nlrb.gov/poster.  If you have any questions about this bulletin, please feel free to contact IADA legal at (217) 753-0220.
