IADA DEALER DELEGATION HEADS TO WASHINGTON

With auto financing, taxes, vehicle recalls and numerous other issues on the national agenda, it is important that Congress hears the dealer perspective as members confront numerous problems facing the country. You will be represented by IADA Chairman Mike Mangold, IADA Vice Chairman Dave Taylor, NADA Director Jamie Auffenberg; Next Gen Dealer and IADA Board Member Jason Roberts, IADA President Peter Sander and IADA Director of Legislative Affairs, Joe McMahon.

IADA is hosting with CATA separate Legislative Receptions for both our Illinois Republican and Democratic Congressional delegations.

IL SOS CONTINUES TO HAVE LOW SUPPLY OF PASSENGER PLATES FOR VEHICLES
The IL Secretary of State continues to have a very low supply of passenger plates available, therefore the supply for our IADA-CVR warehouse is also limited.  We've been told this is a result of their future plans for re-plating.  In the meantime, please order plates in moderation.  In order to insure that no dealers are left without inventory, we may be required to revise orders requesting excessive quantities.  It is always a best practice to order no more than a 60 day supply of plates even when quantities are not limited from SOS.

We thank for your cooperation as we work thru this SOS inventory shortage and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

U.S. DOT UNVEILS FREE, ONLINE SEARCH TOOL FOR RECALLS USING VIN
In 2012, Congress passed legislation - supported by NADA - which instructed NHTSA to create a new, VIN-searchable database for consumers and dealers to determine whether a vehicle is under open recall.

Go to NHTSA Vehicle Recall Lookup Tool

In its unveiling announcement, NHTSA mentioned it is "working with NADA to help ensure that franchise dealerships across the United States become aware of and understand how to use the new VIN search tool."

"To improve vehicle safety, NADA urges every car owner who receives a recall notice from a manufacturer to visit his or her local new-car dealership to have the vehicle inspected, and if necessary, fixed at no charge. Historically, about 75 percent of all recalled vehicles get fixed. Our goal is to see 100 percent of those vehicles remedied," said NADA Chairman Forrest McConnell.

PROVISO EAST AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM NEEDS YOUR HELP
In May of 2014, Proviso East High School in Maywood, IL experienced a fire in their main building that destroyed several classrooms and offices. In an effort to extinguish the fire, all donated vehicles used for the automotive technology program were also destroyed. Automotive Technology is the only Industrial Education Program taught at Proviso East and relies heavily on donations from local businesses and colleges.

The school is currently teaching 10 sections of automotive technology without a vehicle for students to utilize for hands on skills training. They are asking for any vehicle donations that can be made to the Proviso East Automotive Technology program. The vehicles will be used for training over 360 students enrolled and will not be licensed, titled or sold.

The District office will supply companies and individuals with the appropriate paperwork acknowledging the donation that can be used for tax write offs.  All donations must undergo Proviso District 209 Board of Education approval. The district would also like to prepare a media blitz regarding the vehicles being donated.

To donate, please contact Frank Bexes at 847-302-9313 or at fbexes@pths209.org for additional information.
